NUIT BLANCE 2008

toronto's annual all night art show Nuit Blanche was on Saturday. very interesting, took some pictures. wish i could have seen more! heres some of my personal fav's .....underneath this massive sign were trees where everyone hung their wishes. most people wishing for world peace....not very original but its hard to decided out of all the things a person could wish for. some people wishing for friends to get layed. i can never make wishes im way to indecisive.
probably and interesting message portrayed here if i didnt have ADD....and the goddamn tree didnt block the last bit.
my favorite painting.
this guy had some sort of cool camera that took very artistic action shots.
i really wanted to dance so he could make art out of me but the line was too long.

thats for me:)
beauuuuuuuty!
it says FUCK THE PAST which i thought was very appropriate for a snow man to say. kind of creepy but such a cool idea and placed on top of a bridge.
me as an animal

coolest mural i have ever seen...right outside the mocca museum.

-this week's addiction:

ive had intense sleep deprivation over the last 4 days. not necessairily due by choice either, more so insomnia, but tired or wired i cannot get enough of
AS THE RUSH COMES BY MOTORCYCLE
electro trance dance feel
even at 6 in the morning before a midterm drinking red wine from a plastic cup.

Stanislavski quote

"Put your life into the imagined circumstances and actions until you have completely satisfied your sense of truth and until you have awakened a sense of faith in the reality of your own sensations."
-Stanislavski
Just purchased new Konstantin Stanislabski book "an actors work" from threatre books toronto. one of the greatest innovators of psycho-physcial technique in acting and revolutionalized standards of acting in theatre.

Burnt Norton- T.S elliot part of Four Quartets

At the still point of the turning world. Neither flesh nor fleshless;Neither from nor towards; at the still point, there the dance is,
But neither arrest nor movement. And do not call it fixity,
Where past and future are gathered. Neither movement from nor towards,
Neither ascent nor decline. Except for the point, the still point,
There would be no dance, and there is only the dance.
I can only say, there we have been: but I cannot say where.
And I cannot say, how long, for that is to place it in time.
The inner freedom from the practical desire,
The release from action and suffering, release from the inner
And the outer compulsion, yet surrounded
By a grace of sense, a white light still and moving,
Erhebung without motion, concentration
Without elimination, both a new world
And the old made explicit, understoodIn the completion of its partial ecstasy,
The resolution of its partial horror.
Yet the enchainment of past and future
Woven in the weakness of the changing body,
Protects mankind from heaven and damnation
Which flesh cannot endure. Time past and time future
Allow but a little consciousness.
To be conscious is not to be in time
But only in time can the moment in the rose-garden,
The moment in the arbour where the rain beat,
The moment in the draughty church at smokefall
Be remembered; involved with past and future.
Only through time time is conquered.

one of my favorite poems and ive got one of the lines tattooed on my ribs. painful your thinking? ohhh hell yes. i want to eventually have writing, quotes, famous lines, literary art tattooed all over my body. i was given this poem while in spain, i know its long and you may get lost, but if you can depict and understand it beginning to end, it will change your thinking.

David Suzuki

Appearence and Speech - October 14th Ryerson
opinions following.

explosions in the sky

explosions in the sky
american instrumental post rock band
fascinating song in my opinion is
"your hand in mine"
from their latest album "the earth is not a dead cold place."
[can be commpared to artists such as sigur ros]
personal analysis of this song:
powerful and enlightneing, not one to listen to this song or type of music on a regular basis to trigger deep emtional thoughts. But far as sad or sappy bullshit love songs go, for a synical realistic person such as myself, as much as we all hate them sometimes, this song is somwhats intuiguing, thought provoking and is worth a listen.
cheers

KID CUDI ~ day n night

watched superstarr kid cudi from front row last night, will get some pictures soon. But if you have never heard of him, please listen to his day and night version. quite the gentleman in real life shook hands, asked for a name, went for a smoke. From my one minutes spent with him person to person, i would say he is such a talented honest MC and i have so much respect for this

Friedrich Nietzche {quote du jour}

"YOU NEED CHOAS IN YOUR SOUL TO GIVE BIRTH TO A DANCING STAR."
the first quote du jour that i feel is significant enough to be featured is from my favorite philosopher mr. nietzche whos ideas have changed the way i see since i was 16.
cheers.

DJ Tits Worth- entertainment review

Playing at Toronto's Wrong Bar ( Small hipster venue), DJ Tits Worth is rated a 7.5/10 in my books. The electric feel, single man played some classics while we danced on a carpeted ( whaa?) small stage to the flashing red disco ball lights for some mood lighting. For the 10 dollars cover and free streetcar ride down queen, i would say the whole night was a delightful, entertaining, low budget night with a good crowd of people.(not "good" by the means of drug free, but dangerous? no no). Impecible style on the ladies part and cheers to the man who told us toronto was the capital of canada for making an effort to start a stimulating conversation. i would definatly recommend wrong bar if you are looking for the following in a night out in toronto:
- "bar" casual yet interesting apparel
- disco ball dance floor with bodies moving at an ecstacy pace, but you actually have enough room so dance oppose to clubs where you cannot see, hear, or talk to people let alone have a little space.
- wonderful service with rock and roll bartenders sporting awesome tatooed arm sleeves
- a 1950's feel to the velvet decor and furniture, patterend carpet and antique styling in the rustic mood lighting. ( a very original setting for a bar)
- small nooks to sitback and watch life

in conclusion- worth my time and money and will i be returning? oui oui!

Le Premier

just a test...but lets make it somewhat worthwhile
my first blog doesn't really have a headlining topic or catchy phrase im just goint to write. Currently sitting in a computer lab with about 43 luminous, lifeless, expressionless, identical humans captivated by intricate technologies. With a bud in my ear listening to fake plastic trees on my shuffle list, sipping on herbal black with one sugar, my attention wanders and I attempt to make some sort of eye contact with any one of them, but its useless. i find it absolutely amusing to be able to sit here and watch these 43 people, indefinatly, and they are oblivious to the fact that they are being examind, being studied. And it's not creepy because i have no motive to do anything but a psychological test for personal curiosity. Is it abnormal to want to watch from a distance, from an invisible persepective, what people are really like? Well, realistically we are all being watched on a daily basis, "g.orwell pediction" style...except that is a little frightening. my heart is sold for art,to drama, theatre, acting, performing. I'm intruiged by people in anyway shape or form.

just a thought i had while trying to think of something to write....
